Pumas de la U.N.A.M. vs. Cruz Azul: Dante Lopez Puts Pumas 1-0 Up

After an opening 20 minutes where Cruz Azul had the better of the play, Pumas has gone up 1-0 after creating a fantastic chance for themselves. Martin Bravo fought off multiple defenders in the box and laid a pass to the center of the penalty area for Dante Lopez. He controlled and finished well past Jesus Corona to put Pumas 1-0 ahead.

The goal came about five minutes after Sergio Bernal had made a spectacular save on a shot by Christian Gimenez. Bernal picked up a back pass, resulting in an indirect free kick from 17 yards out. Gimenez hit a great shot, but Bernal made a better save.

While Cruz Azul have controlled the possession, the work rate of the Pumas strikers has been impressive and it’s exactly why they have a lead despite having the ball for only a third of the match thus far. Cruz Azul will likely need to up their intensity to pull one back.
