Cruz Azul have leveled the match at 1-1 thanks to a free kick from a ridiculous distance from Christian Gimenez. I’ve never actually seen someone attempt a direct free kick from this distance, so it’s tough to tell you how far it was, but one of my buddies estimated it at approximately 580 yards. I think it might have been actually 45 yards, and I’m being serious.
Pumas de la U.N.A.M. vs. Cruz Azul: Chaco Equalizes From Outer Space
Chaco’s shot would have given Sergio Bernal some serious problems without any kind of deflection, but on the way towards the goal it hit the backside of one of Horacio Cervantes, altering the path of the ball. It hit the left post and bounced in, giving Bernal absolutely no shot at a save.
The scoring is unlikely to be over in this match, as both teams look to be playing with guns blazing. Pumas will feel like they need another goal going to Estadio Azul.
