Monterrey will be without five, count ‘em, five first choice players for tonight’s Liguilla quarterfinal first leg matchup against Pachuca. Both Humberto Suazo and Walter Ayovi represented their national teams last night while Jonathan Orozco, Severo Meza, and Luis Perez all got sent off last week. Pachuca, on the other hand, have a full team at their disposal. The starting lineups look to be of a similar quality, but Pachuca’s bench looks much healthier than Monterrey’s as a result of those suspensions and international call-ups. No word yet if either Ayovi or Suazo will be on the bench tonight, but even if they are, don’t expect them to come in unless the situation is desperate.
Pachuca vs. Monterrey: Pre-Match Primer
Pachuca Lineup (4-3-3): Calero / Muñoz, Lopez, Aguilar, Perez / Torres, Vidal, Peña / Manso, Benitez, Cvitanich
Monterrey Lineup (4-4-2): Ibarra / Paredes, Davino, Basanta, Osorio / Cardozo, Morales, Zavala, Martinez / de Nigris, Santana
Some websites are listing Pachuca’s lineup and Monterrey’s lineup as 5-3-2, so this isn’t an exact science. Neither team should look too rigid anyway. If either team does go to a five man back line, Vidal would play in the back for Pachuca while Morales would be the man dropping into the back line for Monterrey.
The match starts at 7pm ET, catch it on Telefutura.
