In case there was any doubt left at Craven Cottage, Manchester City has put Fulham away with their first goal of the second half that stretches their lead to 4-0. For the second time today, Fulham has been made to pay dearly for a poor clearance thanks to some fantastic finishing by City. In the first half, a poor clearance by Damian Duff allowed Pablo Zabaleta to line up a shot from a little over 20 yards that was rifled in for a superb goal and this time a poor clearance by Dick Etuhu gave Carlos Tevez the chance to score his second of the match.
Fulham vs. Manchester City: Tevez Scores His Second, City’s Fourth
Etuhu had his chance to get the ball out of danger, but the poor clearance was struck back at goal and the low shot got through the big crowd 10 yards from goal, but just when it looked as if it would be calmly collected by Mark Scwarzer, Tevez popped in. The Argentinean found himself a yard in from of Schwarzer and cleverly flicked the oncoming shot with his first touch up and over Schwarzer then under the bar for his brace and a 4-0 City lead.
The second half started with Fulham showing a bit of life and driving into the attacking third a few times, which was a massive improvement from the first half, but they couldn’t get any scoring chances from it. Even then, City was hardly being overwhelmed as this match has been all Citizens from the beginning and their 4-0 lead isn’t the least bit undeserved.
