It looks as if Wilman Conde has, in fact, found greener pastures.
Chicago Fire’s Wilman Conde Reportedly Joining Primera’s Puebla
The Chicago Fire defender has signed with the Mexican Primera's Puebla, according to a report in Mexican publication Medio Tiempo.
The loss of Conde was not exactly unexpected, but it is problematic nonetheless. Combined the retirement of C.J. Brown, the Fire have lost both of their starting central defenders. The two central defenders remaining on the roster - Kwame Watson-Siriboe and Dasan Robinson. Still, those two combined for just nine starts at center back last season and Robinson has just 17 games there in the past three seasons.
Even with Conde and Brown on the field, the Fire were not exactly a dominating defense. Their 38 goals allowed ranked 10th in MLS and their 389 shots against was the third highest total.
Considering their starting goalkeeper is likely to be second-year player Sean Johnson, finding some experience at center back would seem to be the highest priority for the Fire during the offseason.
