Major League Soccer Playoffs, Leg 2: Bobby Convey’s Strike Equalizes In 7th Minute

History may not be on the side of the Earthquakes, but history means very little in this game.

Bobby Convey collected a free ball about eight yards out and easily scored it past Bouna Condoul to tie the series 1-1 in the 7th minute.

Convey was able to jump on a ball that Ryan Johnson had deflected off a cross into the box. Convey has scored just two goals in his last two MLS seasons.

Only one team has ever come back after losing the first leg at home, but there have only been two teams to trail by one goal. Of the 10 teams that have been tied or trailing by one goal, four of the road teams have pulled out the victory.

The Earthquakes have definitely been the aggressor in this match at the 12-minute mark, controlling much of the play.

The atmosphere at the match has been impressive, with chants ringing out throughout the match.
