Birmingham City Vs. Manchester United: Lee Bowyer Finds Controversial, 89th Minute Equalizer

Remember early in the season when Manchester United couldn't hold a lead? The Red Devils, normally the authors of comebacks, where coughing up points late in matches? While those days seemed long gone, Birmingham City has revitalized them with an 89th minute goal, though the tally does not come without controversy.

A ball in from the right flank led to an aerial challenge won by big Nikola Zigic, with replays showing the ball went off the striker's left arm. The ricochet went down toward the right post, where Lee Bowyer ran onto an equalizing shot, making it 1-1 going into second half stoppage time.

Various Manchester United players, Edwin van der Sar most vocal amongst them, were irate when the goal was allowed to stand, but the defense’s inability to win the ball in the air costs them. Birmingham City looks set to take a point, the match 1-1 in stoppage time.
