After months out of the team, Abou Diaby made his return Monday, coming on as a substitute in Arsenal's 3-1 win over Chelsea. He wasn't great, but he looked healthy, giving Gooners reason to think the French international was ready to come back into the team.
Wigan Vs. Arsenal: Abou Diaby Subbed Off, Jack Wilshire On In 27th Minute
In the 27th minute at the DW, Arsenal supporters have reason to think differently. Diaby is off before the half-hour mark, going straight to the locker room after being subbed-off by Arsène Wenger. Jack Wilshire has come on to replace him.
Diaby had suffered with an ankle injury incurred earlier this year, and although its potential recurrence is bad news for Arsenal, in the context of today's match, it could have benefits. Down 1-0 early to Wigan, Wilshire's skill on the ball could be a blessing, particularly with Cesc Fàbregas suspended and Samir Nasri given a rest.
Now into the 31st minute, the match at the DW is still 1-0 Wigan, Arsenal having burned their first substitution.
