Within the span of four minutes, Wigan went from a goal up to one down and now look set to go into halftime carrying a 2-1 deficit, thanks to Nicklas Bendtner. The Danish attacker built on the work of Andrei Arshavin and some terrible Wigan defending to give his team a late first half lead.

In the 43rd minute, Arshavin picked up a ball 35 yards from goal and start down the left-center of the pitch, toward Wigan's area, With Hendry Thomas trailing the Russian attack, nobody stepped-up to challenge the Russian until he as four yards from the box. Then Arshavin played a ball to the middle for Bendtner, and although both Gary Caldwell and Antolin Alcaraz had a chance to intercept the ball, Bendtner was allow to touch the ball toward goal, shoot, and given Arsenal the lead.
The goal was less Arsenal greatness than Wigna ineptness, but it counts the same on the scoresheet. Just moments before halftime, Arsenal has reversed Wigan’s early lead, posed to go into half up, 2-1.
