I don’t know what I watched for the last 45 minutes, but it hardly resembled a football match. Liverpool kind of wandered around aimlessly since Wolves were smart enough to defend against their Plan A of walking the ball though the center of the pitch. Unfortunately, that’s all every player on Wolves save for Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Matt Jarvis has been concerned with. With as poor as Liverpool have been, any decent footballing side should be ahead of them. Fortunately for the Reds, Wolves are mostly big bruisers with minimal skill.
Liverpool Vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers: Eff This, I’m Turning On The Military Bowl
Steven Gerrard’s impact in his return has been sporadic at best. The iconic star has done next to nothing, and while he should have been better, it’s hardly his fault. Raul Meireles has (predictably) done nothing as a wide player, David N’Gog appears to lack skill, and Fernando Torres is not on his game. Additionally, this setup asks Gerrard to come from a much deeper role than he played during most of his years when he was considered to be among the best players in the world. Still...remember when Steven Gerrard used to win games by himself? It didn’t matter how bad Liverpool were playing, he put the team on his back like Greg Jennings with a broken leg (NSFW audio).
So, screw it. This game blows. I’m turning on the Military Bowl. GO ECU!
