The Dwayne De Rosario situation appears to be normalizing, as the Toronto FC captain has reportedly now received permission to train with Celtic. De Rosario had been photographed training with the Scottish giant without first securing permission from his employer. It has also been learned that Celtic had been told De Rosario had the proper clearance.
Dwayne De Rosario Gets Permission To Train With Celtic; Freddie Ljungberg Close To Signing
An MLS official told Scotland’s Evening Times, “We talked with (Celtic chief executive) Peter Lawwell and he indicated Celtic had been told by both the player and his agent that they had permission.
“When we’re told that by a club like Celtic, we are inclined to not move towards a legal action and instead work with them to secure the proper paperwork.”
While De Rosario's future is still very much up in the air, it appears Freddie Ljungberg is close to signing with Celtic, perhaps in time for Saturday's Scottish derby. Ljungberg's contract officially runs out on Friday, and it appears as if Celtic is prepared to offer him a contract.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon praised Ljungberg’s fitness and is looking for reinforcements for his injury ravaged team, saying, “We’re meeting with Freddie’s management team today to try to get something concrete. Freddie was at the game last night and I hope he got a good impression of the team.”
