Everton find their equalizer through the head of Jermaine Beckford after enduring a spell of pressure in front of their own goal.
Chelsea Vs. Everton: Jermaine Beckford Finds The Equalizer For The Visitors
Leighton Baines took the ball up the left side of the pitch, slipping right through the Chelsea players to send it across the front of goal. Tim Cahill rose to meet Baines' cross, heading the ball on to Beckford, who just needed a head flick to send the ball past Petr Cech's outstretched fingers.
Toffees’ fans will be thanking their lucky stars not just for the goal, which was quite skillful, but for the fact that referee Lee Probert allowed Cahill to stay on the pitch after he collided with Cech, his studs going into the keeper’s cheekbone. Players have been sent off for much less.
Everton has looked more lively in this half, with quite a bit more pressure from the visitors. The equalizer was certainly deserved, and now the hosts look simply desperate to reclaim victory.
