In the interest of full disclosure, there’s not technically a “war” between Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov. But there should be. Wouldn’t it be great if the two most powerful (and insane) Russian billionaires in sports began feuding?
Roman Abramovich Vs. Mikhail Prokhorov: The War Escalates
↵And they could wage war not with arms or brutality (not that either of them would ever resort to such measures), but by seeing who could spend more money on the most ridiculous things on earth. Like Abramovich, who recently announced plans to renovate a nightclub underneath Chelsea’s stadium:
↵↵The venue — complete with a four-metre-high waterfall and hydraulically-operated stage — is likely to be mainly for the Russian billionaire’s own entertainment use but could also be rented out for parties, according to Building magazine. One source said: “It’s quite an intimate space because it’s in a basement, but it will be able to hold about 400 to 500 guests.”
↵↵Because what’s more ballin than owning your own world-class soccer team? Spending 20 million pounds on a nightclub underneath its stadium. Now it’s your move, Mikhail Prokhorov. Buy a fleet of luxury blimps, or something. Surprise us. Dazzle us. We know you’ve got something up your sleeve...
