Tottenham Hotspur winger David Bentley has joined Birmingham City on loan until the end of the season in search of form and first team football. Having languished on the bench for the majority of 2010, Bentley will now take his trickery to Brum, who sit in 15th position and only a point off the relegation zone.

While the Blues rarely play any form of attractive football, Bentley’s forward play, crossing abilities and effectiveness from set pieces will be a welcomed addition to a side often in need of creativity and quality. As much potential as the now 26-year-old does in fact have, he failed to win over Spurs supporters and the idea that Bentley could become the next David Beckham is an idea so foreign, many have forgotten of Bentley as his time at White Hart Lane has largely been spent anywhere but the pitch.
For now, at least, Bentley’s headed North with yet another opportunity to reclaim the form Premier League fans witnessed when he was at Blackburn from 2006-08. The supporters in Brum should welcome Bentley with open arms if they hope to beat this year’s drop, yet Bentley will have precious time to prove he’s a Premier League quality winger if he has any ambition of a future England spot in the years to come.
