Barcelona move ominously clear of Real Madrid with four points now the advantage over their main rivals for La Liga. While Barcelona left the Estadio Juegos Mediterraneos with an 8-0 mauling under their belts, Real Madrid plundered to a 1-1 draw which set the tone for a vibrant Barcelona performance at the Camp Nou against Manuel Pellegrinis Malaga.
Barcelona Vs Malaga: Barcelona Move Four Points Clear With 4-1 Win Over Malaga
The match was only seven minutes old when Andres Iniesta put Barcelona infront, and with further goals from David Villa and Pedro sending Barca into the break three to the good, a home win was always on the cards. Barcelona came out in the second half looking to sit on their three goal lead, but they were given a mini-fright on 67 minutes when Duda took advantage of a foul on debutant Julio Baptista to curl home a delicious free kick.
But it turned out to be only a consolation for Malaga as David Villa slotted home a trademark goal to restore Barcas three goal cushion. Lionel Messi wasn’t quite at his mercurial best, missing a fair few chances to add to the incredible 31 goals he already has to his name this season, but with Villa firing on all cylinders he didnt need to be at his clinical best.
So with four points now between Barcelona and Real Madrid at the top of La Liga, Madrid now need another team to take points of ‘Los Cules’ before the next clasico if they are to have any chance of stealing Barcas league crown. At this rate it doesn’t look too likely.
