It’s perhaps a but less glamorous than being the first player taken in the MLS Draft, but UCSB defender Chris Boxall was selected by the Vancouver Whitecaps as the first player taken in the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft. The picked kicked off a drafts that has moved at a pace that eclipses even that of the MLB draft in its pre-televised state, with the entirety of the first round taking approximately 29 seconds to complete. (Note: this might be a slight exaggeration.)
