Apparently, Ryan Babel’s move to Hoffenheim isn’t quite sealed up yet. The player’s agent has commented that Babel will only agree to a move to Hoffenheim if Ajax is not an option. Babel is an Ajax youth academy product who moved from the Amsterdam outfit to Liverpool in 2007.
Ryan Babel’s Agent, Ajax Throwing A Wrench In Proceedings
Despite the interest from Babel and his agent to secure a move to Ajax, it’s unlikely that a deal to Hoffenheim will fall through if Ajax don’t want to pony up the cash for Babel. Hoffenheim are a very rich club who can pay Babel whatever wages he desires, and they have already agreed with Liverpool on a fee. Babel might not move to Hoffenheim, but he’ll have a home outside of Merseyside come February no matter what, unless the current circumstances change drastically.
This bit of transfer shenanigans has caused Oliver Kay from The Times to recall a similar incident in which Darren Bent, at Tottenham at the time, preferred Sunderland to other possible transfer destinations. He made this very clear to his followers on twitter, in a tweet in which he suggested that Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy should “stop f***ing around.”
Time for @RyanBabel to follow the Darren Bent route? "Do I wanna go 2 Hoffenheim? NO. Do I wanna go 2 Ajax? YES. So stop f***ing about. SMH"
Ah, just another day in January. Hopefully, all of this mess will be over soon and we’ll get to see Ryan Babel playing regular football again, either in Holland or in Germany.
