Samir Nasri opened the scoring five minutes into the match, slotting a right-footed shot past Kaspar Schmeichel from 14 yards out. Arsenal doubled their lead 30 minutes later through Bacary Sagna only to have Bradley Johnson's 28-yard blast bring Leeds back to within one two minutes later. In the second half, Robin van Persie was brought on late, producing the match's final goal, finishing a cross from Nicklas Bendtner.
While not a dominant performance from the gunners, Arsenal certainly controlled the match, holding 69 percent of the possession. Arsenal put nine hots on goal to Leeds’ two and were able to complete 84 percent of their passes.
With the win, the Gunners enter an easy part of their schedule: three matches at the Emirates, the toughest of which will be this weekend’s visit from Wigan. Then, the Gunners have the second leg of the Carling Cup semifinals against Ipswich town before welcoming Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup’s fourth round.
