Despite some late pressure from the visitors, Mladen Petric’s sixty-fifth minute goal was the difference between Hamburg SV and Eintracht Frankfurt at the Imtech Arena. Frankfurt had the majority of the possession in the waning minutes, but didn’t create many chances and failed to score an equalizer. Die Adler were pretty direct as they tried to level the scoreline, and left plenty of space in midfield for HSV to break on the counterattack. The home side still looked slightly off of their best in the final third, and probably could have won more comfortably.
Victory Against Eintracht Frankfurt Moves Hamburg SV Up To Sixth
Unfortunately for Armin Veh, despite a second successive 1-0 defeat HSV have been hit by yet more injury problems. Jonathan Pitroipa was taken off at halftime and Gojko Kacar only played about thirty-five minutes before being substituted. Defeat for Michael Skibbe’s side leaves Frankfurt in eighth place, while HSV are up to sixth, level on points with Bayern Munich, who play tomorrow.
