Just as the last 10 minutes of the first half were set to disappear into obscurity, Liverpool have found the opener through Fernando Torres. In what was a fantastic team move, Christian Poulsen released Raul Meireles through on goal from deep in midfield to start the attack. When Wolves' defenders cried for offside, Meireles squared to Torres who had filled the space in the middle of the box. From so close in on goal, money will always be on Torres to finish easily and slot home the Spanish international did.

While ESPN2’s commentating team of Steve McManaman and Ian Darke continue to point out the fact that the game’s linesman is female, her performance has thus far been flawless and realistically warrants little conversation.
Wolves witnessed their best chance of the game thus far in stoppage time of the first half when a set piece allowed Nenad Milijas to find the ball at his feet a mere yard or so in front of Pepe Reina's goal. The Serb couldn't find his way past Reina in the second he had to shoot and Liverpool survived the danger. Now at the half, Liverpool remain up by a goal.
