Fulham Vs. Stoke City: Clint Dempsey Goal Has Cottagers Up At Half

At some point, the media here in the United States is going to take note. Clint Dempsey is having a great year for Fulham, one which continues today against visiting Stoke City. The Cottager attacker has slid onto a cross from Andrew Johnson and beat Asmir Begovic, giving Fulham a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute.

The goal was created as Johnson got behind the Stoke defense and, making for the line, played a ball back across goal. Dempsey came on, sliding into the cross, and giving Fulham a goal that came slightly against the run of play. Regardless, a Cottager team that came into the weekend two points above the drop have an early route to three.

For Dempsey, the goal is his seventh of the season, putting him on pace for between 11 and 12 for the campaign. The goal also matches the total the 27-year-old posted in each of the last two seasons, also equaling a career high.

Now at half-time, Fulham leads Stoke, who came into this match in eighth place, 1-0.
