Fulham Vs. Stoke City: Red Card Sees Ryan Shawcross Off As Clint Dempsey Gives Cottagers 2-0 Lead

Fulham looks set for to get three points from Stoke City, though with half an hour left at Craven Cottage, you never know what could happen. But beyond that trite aphorism, know the Potters are now down a man and down two goals, Ryan Shawcross having seen straight red after denying Clint Dempsey a goal scoring opportunity. Highlighting the stupidity of taking giving that foul so early in the match. The resulting penalty saw Dempsey convert, giving Fulham a 2-0 lead.

For Dempsey, it was his second goal of the match, giving him eight on the season. That total sets a new career high for the 27-year-old, now in his fifth season at Fulham. Dempsey had scored seven in each of the last two seasons and added his seventh of this campaign in the 33rd minute. Now up to 23 goals for his English Premier League career, Dempsey is now on pace to score 13 goals for the season.
