Frederic Piquionne has restored West Ham United's lead at Goodison Park, but being shown a second yellow card during the course of the celebration, the French striker is off. But as he left the pitch, West Ham had a late 2-1 lead over Everton, on track for their second road win of the season.
Everton Vs. West Ham: Frederic Piquionne Restores Hammers’ Lead, Gets Sent Off
The goal came as Everton's defense had been packed deep in their own area, West Ham in possession along the right side. Piquionne was ten yards out at the near post, his height making him an easy target for the cross. The ball came in on a line and was perfectly redirected, beating Tim Howard inside the `keeper's left post, restoring the lead West Ham had held since Jonathan Spector opened the scoring in the first half.
In celebrating, Piquionne jumped into the West Ham supporter’s section, and obligatory yellow card. Have been booked earlier in the match, Piquionne’s impulse cost his team a man, leaving the Hammers to protect their lead while playing 10-on-11.
