Espanyol had been dominating their early play on the road in their La Liga game against Getafe, but the hosts have struck first on the counter-attack thanks to a brilliant goal by Miku, starting in place of the injured Manu.
Getafe Vs. Espanyol: Hosts Lead Through Miku’s Individual Brilliance
His goal was unassisted and came off of a brilliant individual effort. Taking the ball on his own a good distance from goal, Miku was able to beat three defenders by himself, eventually creating a shooting opportunity on the left side of the box from about 15 yards away. He hit a high shot with his left foot and beat Espanyol keeper Carlos Idriss Kameni over his shoulder and at his near post. Espanyol’s defenders and Kameni possibly should have done better, but it was still an incredible individual effort from Miku, who thoroughly deserved his goal after what he did to get the shooting opportunity.
Espanyol have done an excellent job of keeping the ball and getting it forward early, but Getafe is defending well, keeping Espanyol from creating any kind of clear goal scoring opportunities.
And if you’re wondering, Miku did not lift up his shirt to show all of us “The King.”
