Strange half of football that has seen Mallorca dominate, Real Madrid slowly working their way into the match before Mallorca finished the half on the offensive once more. All credit to Michael Laudrup and his side, who have obviously come to the Bernabeu intent on earning at least a point.
Real Madrid Vs Mallorca: HALF-TIME - Real Madrid Struggling Against Solid Mallorca
Laudrup’s side have restricted Real Madrid to half chances, with Cristiano Ronaldo being kept uncharacteristically quiet so far. Angel Di Maria and Kaka haven’t made any impression on the match, while Gago and Granero have been bullied in an intense midfield battle. Mourinho will be fully aware of where Mallorca are hurting Real Madrid, on Marcelo’s wing, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the manager switched things around, possibly bringing on Alonso or Lass Diarra to help Marcelo out when Mallorca are in possession.
Karim Benzema is anonymous once more, but with scarce resources on the bench, the only possibility of Benzema being replaced is if Mourinho opts to move Cristiano upfront, allowing him to bring on Mesut Ozil or Pedro Leon. Tough match to call, but if I had to choose a winner I’d unsurprisingly go for Madrid. That said, Mallorca earned a draw in the Camp Nou so they are no strangers to the odd surprise.
