After a poor start for Chelsea and a terrible start for Bolton, the visitors are ahead 1-0 after 11 minutes thanks to an absolute scorcher by Didier Drogba.
Bolton Wanderers Vs. Chelsea: Didier Drogba Hits Wonder Strike
It was all Bolton to start the match, possibly spurred on by a fantastic pre-match tribute to club legend Nat Lofthouse, who recently passed away. Chelsea did not see any of the ball in the opening four minutes of the match and when they finally did have a spell of possession, Bolton’s pressing was relentless.
Despite that, it’s Chelsea who have struck first. The move was started when Bolton right back Gretar Steinsson gave the ball away to Florent Malouda, who found Drogba in the middle of the pitch. Bolton gave Drogba a little too much space and he unleashed a shot from 30 yards away from the goal. His shot had a good deal of power and moved like a knuckleball, barely dipping under the crossbar and into the back of the net. Jussi Jaaskelainen had no chance to make a save.
