Bayer Leverkusen will be confident of improving their poor home record today, they lead Hannover 96 2-0 at halftime in the BayArena thanks to Simon Rolfes’s third league goal of the season. Hannover came slightly closer to scoring in the closing minutes of the first half, as Manuel Schmiedebach played Konstantin Rausch in on the left side of the penalty area, but Rausch was wrongly flagged for offside.
Bayer Leverkusen Vs. Hannover 96: Simon Rolfes Doubles Bayer’s Lead Just Before Halftime
Overall, Leverkusen definitely deserve their halftime lead, and will feel much more comfortable in the second half after Rolfes added the second to cap off a very nice move. Arturo Vidal, wide on the left, passed inside to Gonzalo Castro; the Leverkusen academy product slid an excellent ball through to set Rolfes one-on-one with Ron-Robert Zieler in the penalty area. Bayer’s captain timed his run perfectly, and Rolfes made no mistake, slotting the ball past Zieler and giving Bayer a two-goal advantage at the break.
