Hannover 96 and Bayer Leverkusen both had some chances in the second half, but good goalkeeping by Rene Adler and Ron-Robert Zieler plus a bit of profligacy on both sides meant that the final result was the same as the scoreline at halftime, with Leverkusen winners by a pair of goals. Hannover played a bit more brightly in the second half, though Didier Ya Konan and Mohammed Abdellaoue spurned good opportunities to pull a goal back with thirty and then twenty minutes remaining, respectively.
Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 Hannover 96: Even Second Half Sends Bayer Five Points Clear Of Hannover
Both goalkeepers also had a hand (see what I did there?) in keeping the second half scoreless; Zieler made a very good save from Renato Augusto after Arturo Vidal had set him one-on-one, shortly after Adler stopped Christian Schulz from distance with just under twenty minutes to play. The victory moves second-place Bayer Leverkusen five points clear of Hannover 96, who remain in third. Borussia Dortmund’s gap at the top of the league is now down to eight points; the leaders visit Wolfsburg tomorrow in one of the five early kickoffs.
