Inter Milan manager Leonardo subbed on new signing Giampaolo Pazzini at halftime, and in just 30 minutes, the former Fiorentina and Sampdoria man turned the game on its head. Palermo went into the break with a 2-0 lead, but they came out of the match with nothing as Inter Milan earned a hard fought 3-2 victory.
Inter Milan Vs. Palermo: 3-2 Full Time, Giampaolo Pazzini Lifts Inter To Comeback Victory
Pazzini notched a brace and an assist, scoring one with his right foot from open play and one with his head from a set piece before capping off his performance by drawing a penalty. It wasn’t quite the perfect hat trick, but it was a fantastic all-around performance where Pazzini showed off his entire skill set.
Sprinkled in for dramatic effect were a missed penalty and another shot off the woodwork for Javier Pastore in the second half, leaving Palermo wondering what may have been.
With their win, Inter Milan are at least temporarily back into UEFA Champions League qualifying positions, while Palermo’s loss will make qualifying for Europe a tougher task than it was yesterday.
