Rodrigo Moreno's nice near post finish has put Bolton up early in the second half at the Reebok, but it was Mark Davies who created the Trotters goal. The midfielder's run from the middle of the park led to a ball being slid past the Wigan line, Moreno running onto his first Premier League goal.
Newcastle Vs. West Ham, Bolton Vs. Wigan: Magpies Trouncing Hammers, Rodrigo Gives Trotters Lead
Davies received the ball just inside the Wigan half after build-up down the left had to be played back out. Davies ran straight through the Wigan midfield before approaching the line, cutting back to the right, and sliding a ball through the left half of the line for Rodrigo. The Spainard was making a diagonal run along the back of the defense, putting him in position to run onto the through ball and beat Chris Kirkland, giving Bolton a 1-0 lead.
The match is not so close at St. James' Park, where Leon Best has completed a hat-trick and Peter Lovenkrands has added a fifth. Newcastle is now up 5-0 over visiting West Ham, a result which, now in the 72nd minute, could plop Avram Grant back on the managerial hot seat, four match unbeaten streak forgotten.
