After 90 minutes, plus two minutes of stoppage time, Parma added insult to injury with a fourth goal to cap off an emphatic 4-1 victory over Juventus. The referee blew the whistle the second the ball hit the back of the net, making it the perfect ending to a great game for Parma. Raffaele Palladino was the man who put it in off of another assist from Cristian Zaccardo. The finish was easy, with no one anywhere near Palladino. Juventus simply quit.
Juventus Vs. Parma: 1-4 Full Time, Parma Scores A Fourth At The Final Whistle
Though they started as the much better team, it took only 17 minutes for the Old Lady’s day to look completely doomed. Fabio Quagliarella was taken off with a knee injury after just five minutes and 12 minutes later, Felipe Melo was sent off for quite literally kicking Massimo Paci in the face.
Parma struggled for a while, despite having a man advantage, but eventually found the breakthrough with a goal from former Juventus player Sebastian Giovinco in the 41st minute. He would score again in the 48th minute, and that goal would be the eventual winner. Despite scoring a brace, Giovinco did what most would say is the classy thing and did not celebrate either goal.
Nicola Legrottaglie pulled Juventus back within one goal in the 60th minute, but it took less than a minute for them to give the goal right back by conceding a penalty kick, which Hernan Crespo both drew and converted. The final half an hour became a bit of a kickabout with a couple of decent chances for each team, but with both sides generally content with their fate. Parma obviously worked a bit harder, though, as is evidenced by their final goal.
A.C. Milan have to play later today and a result is hardly a given, but Juventus are likely to fall even further behind in the title race. At some point, their goal has to become Champions League qualification, not the Scudetto. With this win, Parma climb even farther away from the dreaded relegation zone.
