Manchester United Vs. Liverpool: Ryan Giggs Penalty Conversion Gives United Early Lead

Dimitar Berbatov took what looked to be a massive dive in the box when blown on by Liverpool defender Daniel Agger and Howard Webb awarded a penalty just seconds after the match started. Ryan Giggs stepped up and blasted his shot past Pepe Reina, who guessed correctly, but was unable to save.

It seems as if Kenny Dalglish's second stint as Liverpool manager has gotten off to a contentious start as his side find themselves down a goal to nil after just two minutes of action. Pre-match thoughts on the positioning of Gerrard look to be correct as the marauding midfielder is playing up top just off of Fernando Torres.

Further replays prove that the contact on Berbatov from Agger was minimal and that the penalty that was awarded should be considered a lucky one by United fans. With so much time left to play though, Liverpool don’t look rattled and their away support remain in good voice at Old Trafford.
