A thoroughly entertaining match that has flowed from end to end, with Villarreal by far the more dangerous of the two sides. You just have to wonder how many goals they would have scored today, and indeed where they would be in La Liga, if they had shown the ruthlessness that Cristiano has shown so far tonight. Their midfield is a joy to behold, with players like Valero, Cani and Cazorla proving they can more than mix it with the best of them.
Jose Mourinho will surely want to slow the pace of the match down, to allow his team to gain a foothold in the match and stem the incessant attacks that his defence are having to contend with so far. The Madrid defence have been all over the place, with Ricardo Carvalho clearly missing Pepe. Raul Albiol hasn’t been at the races so far this evening. Expect Sami Khedira to make an appearance in this second half.
Karim Benzema? Put this guy out of his misery. He really is not good enough to play for Real Madrid.
