Robbie Keane has been ruled out of Ireland's European qualifier on Tuesday after suffering an adductor injury on Friday. Of considerably more importance to Los Angeles Galaxy fans is the news that Ireland coach Giovanni Trapattoni believes the injury could keep Keane out four more weeks, or when Ireland's next round of playoffs begin.

If Keane were to actually be out that long, his availability for the MLS Cup playoffs would be considerably limited. The Galaxy will open the playoffs on the weekend of Oct. 29-30. If Keane were to be out to or up until the next European qualifying round, he would also miss the conference finals.

Clearly, this would be a blow to the Galaxy. With Keane in the lineup, the Galaxy have gone 4-0-0 in MLS play. He has contributed two goals and an assist, while the Galaxy have scored eight goals in those games.
