Queens Park Rangers Vs. Blackburn Rovers, 2011 Premier League: 1-1 Draw At Loftus Road

Queens Park Rangers went up early against Blackburn Rovers and looked to be on the way to compounding Steven Kean's misery by inflicting yet another loss on his struggling side, but the goal seemed to spur the visitors into some sort of action and Blackburn played reasonably well for the rest of the match, equalising quickly and then holding out (with a touch of good fortune) against a QPR side desperate for all three points.

It was a good response to Heidar Hulgusson's opener, scored after a corner-induced goalmouth scramble, and Chris Samba brought the game level from another set piece, nodding past Patrick Kenny to make it 1-1. Despite plenty of chances from both sides - there were 25 shots in the match, neither could score again. That could have been very different late on, when the influential Adel Taarabt went down in the penalty area after being fouled by Michel Salgado. Mark Clattenburg was unimpressed, but it was a very strong call for a spot kick and QPR will doubtless feel a little aggrieved about it not being given. Anyway, despite the draw, Blackburn go bottom of the table on goal differential. But hey, a point!
