Bacary Sagna and Kieran Gibbs are not available for this match. Arsene Wenger does not feel that backup fullbacks are a necessary thing. Playing at left back is Andre Santos, who is just a really large left midfielder, and central defender Johan Djourou is playing at right back. This is already proving to be a massive problem, as Chelsea is absolutely destroying Arsenal down the wings in the early moments.
Chelsea Vs. Arsenal Live, 2011 Premier League: The Gunners Don’t Have Fullbacks
Chelsea fullbacks are getting forward at will, and remarkably, they’re getting in behind their opposing fullbacks. The one on the left can’t defend, while the one on the right is a slow central defender. There’s not a whole lot Wenger can do to fix this...until January, really. Hopefully this one doesn’t get ugly, but a Chelsea goal already feels imminent.
