Arjen Robben looked as though he was going to make a triumphant return from injury for Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich, having even made two substitute appearances (and scoring a goal) in previous weeks. However, the Dutch winger was forced to pull out of international duty this week and the club has now announced that he required surgery to deal with a pubic bone problem and will be out for ten days.

Arjen Robben has gone under the knife again after suffering an injury setback.

Over the past few days some inflammation has developed around the pubic bone. That tissue was successfully removed this morning. The medical department expects Robben to be able to resume training in ten days’ time.

He’s a superb player, a player who can win matches on his own. The task now is to get him back to full fitness. That’s what we’re working on, and I know we’ll see a huge return from Arjen Robben in the future.
Ten days doesn’t sound too bad, especially in the middle of an international break, and Bayern will be hoping to get their other star winger back on the field quickly. If you thought they were scary before, imagine what they’ll be like when Robben is back and fit. However, setbacks are never good news - hopefully this doesn’t turn out any worse than the prognosis.
