Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero Injured On International Duty With Argentina

Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero has pulled up with a groin problem while training before Argentina's home World Cup qualifier against Bolivia. The injury also puts the chances of him playing in Tuesday's important away trip to Colombia in question, while City will be hoping that the injury isn't a recurrence of a groin strain he picked up last month against Blackburn that caused him to miss two weeks.

With important fixtures against Newcastle, Napoli and Liverpool to come in their next 3 games, not to mention an away tie in the Carling Cup with Arsenal (though unlikely to play, it means that City may have to use one of their other strikers for four games in 14 days), City will be hoping that he can return quite quickly. Otherwise, they will have to rely exclusively on Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko, robbing them of a player who has made a massive impact since joining them this summer by 10 goals in 13 games.

While losing Aguero is a blow for Argentina, it shouldn't be a catastrophic loss; they still have Ezequiel Lavezzi, Gonzalo Higuain and German Denis, with the latter two in particular in a fine run of form, while there's also some guy called Lionel Messi. Yeah, him, that guy. There's also the possibility of calling up Diego Milito and, if Alejandro Sabello wants to be audacious, he could call up Carlos Tevez, who conveniently is already in Argentina. That, however, is unlikely given that Tevez hasn't played since refusing to come on against Bayern Munich.
