During the Serie A season opener against Lazio on September 9, AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso collided with teammate Alessandro Nesta and injured his eye. When he exited the game, no one could have guessed the extent of his injury. Shortly afterwards, news came out that 'Rino' had suffered optic nerve damage to his left eye, leaving him partially blind in his left eye. His vision is now rapidly improving, and news broke on Wednesday that he has been cleared to return to training.
Gennaro Gattuso Cleared To Train With AC Milan
Gennaro Gattuso has returned to full training for the first time since early September, when he sustained a serious eye injury.

Gattuso hasn't been the only Milan midfielder dealing with injury. Kevin-Prince Boateng, Massimo Ambrosini and Clarence Seedorf have all been forced to miss games at some point, often leaving Milan's midfield dangerously thin. There is not yet a timetable on Gattuso's return to the Milan squad, but it's a very encouraging sign that he's been allowed to return to training. Presumably, he would not be back in full training if his vision was still seriously impaired.
