To absolutely nobody's surprise, Manchester City have suffered a massive loss in the 2010-11 financial year. The FA Cup holders contrived to spend more than £150M in transfer fees and their wages for last season were an astronomical £174M - £2M clear of previous record holders Chelsea.

Like Chelsea, City have used their injection of money to become a major force in the Premier League - purchases such as David Silva (£26M), Yaya Toure (£24M) and Edin Dzeko (£27M) have certainly been worth Shiek Mansour's money, even if he has ended up dropping a ludicrous amount of cash into the club.
↵Anyway, the loss has been reported as £197M, and while that might be acceptable to the club in the here and now it’s going to be interesting to see what sort of financial gymanastics City have to pull in order to adhere to the forthcoming UEFA Financial Fair Play rules. As it stands, the club’s turnover can’t even keep up with their wages, let alone other expenses.
