The Chicago Fire have called a press conference on Thursday to name their new head coach, which Soccer By Ives is reporting will be Frank Klopas, the current interim coach and the team's technical director. Under Klopas' leadership, the Fire went 8-5-10 this year, made a surprise run at the playoffs and advanced to the U.S. Open Cup finals.
Chicago Fire Expected To Name Frank Klopas Coach On Thursday
Fire call Thursday press conference where they are expected to announce Frank Klopas as their permanent head coach.

Klopas named himself the interim coach on May 30 after firing Carlos de los Cobos. The Fire had started 1-4-6 under Cobos and were looking to be one of the worst teams in the league.
The Fire's turnaround under Klopas was as thorough as it was dramatic. After posting just one shutout during the first 11 games, they posted seven over their final 23. The team was outscored 19-15 under de los Cobos and outscored their opponents 31-26 under Klopas. Under Klopas, Sean Johnson once again showed why he's considered one of the top young goalkeepers in MLS and Dominic Oduro scored nine of his career-high 12 goals.
