A year ago at this time the Portland Timbers were preparing for the expansion draft by deciding which players they would like to take. This year, they've spent a season in MLS and need to decide which 11 players to protect to make sure they won't get taken. Ah, how times have changed.

Luckily for the Timbers, it doesn’t look they really need to put much thought into their protected list. That’s because they have reportedly worked out a deal with the Impact that guarantees nobody from the Timbers will be chosen. Well isn’t that just peachy.
