Ajax’s Members’ Council Requests Resignation Of The Board

Ajax’s Members’ Council have decided to settle the feud between Johan Cruff and the rest of the board by banishing everyone.

Ajax’s internal politics have been anything but boring over the past few months, with football legend Johan Cruyff famously warring with his fellow board members, and now things have come to a head. The club’s Members’ Council, who’re apparently sick of the ludicrous sniping between the two factions, have asked all five members of the board to voluntarily go away and never come back, with a ‘large majority’ of the council agreeing with the vote of no confidence.

The board - which is currently made up of Cruyff and his opponents, Edgar Davids, Steven ten Have, Olfers Marjan and Paul Romer - has until Tuesday to respond to the request, and unless they comply with the wishes of the council things are going to get very interesting indeed. As for what this means for Ajax, apart from killing the minor war Cruyff was having with his colleagues, I’m not sure anyone can say. Presumably there’s some sort of plan beyond ‘making them all stop talking nonsense’ but nobody’s bothered saying what that plan might be just yet.
