MLS First Kick 2012: Schedule Announced For Season Openers

Major League Soccer will kickoff it’s 17th season on March 10 with six games.

The 2011 Major League Soccer season may just be a week removed from finishing but the 2012 season is quickly approaching for fans across the league.

Today, the league announced the dates of the home openers for all 19 MLS clubs. The dates include the inaugural match for the newest franchise, the Montreal Impact, as well as the first match at the new Houston Dynamo Stadium in May.

The Montreal’s first home game in MLS will be played at Olympic Stadium on March 17. The newly-renovated Stade Saputo is scheduled to open in June.

The matchups and the full schedule are expected to be released before the end of the year.

Saturday, March 10: Colorado Rapids, DC United, Los Angeles Galaxy, San Jose Earthquakes, Seattle Sounders FC, Vancouver Whitecaps FC
Sunday, March 11: Chivas USA, FC Dallas
Monday, March 12: Portland Timbers

WEEK 2

Saturday, March 17: Sporting Kansas City, Montreal Impact, Real Salt Lake
Sunday, March 18: Philadelphia Union

WEEK 3

Saturday, March 24: Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew, New England Revolution, Toronto FC
Sunday, March 25: New York Red Bulls

WEEK 10

Saturday, May 12: Houston Dynamo (new stadium opener)
