Everton made it tough on them, but Newcastle United have secured another win to keep their unbeaten streak alive, thanks to a fantastic strike by Ryan Taylor. Their 2-1 victory at St. James' Park will keep them in the top four for yet another week, and though they didn't play their best football on Saturday afternoon, the fans will have bigger and bigger dreams for their team with each successive game that they don't lose.
Newcastle Vs. Everton Live, 2011 Premier League: Full Time, Magpies Grab Tough Win
The first goal for Newcastle came on a bit of a comedy of errors, as John Heitinga scored one of the worst own goals you'll ever see in the 12th minute. Under almost no pressure, the Everton defender poked the ball into his own net while trying to control it, leaving goalkeeper Tim Howard looking like he was going to go home and stab some puppies.
There was no luck involved in the second goal, though, with Ryan Taylor hitting an absolute stunner from just outside the penalty area. With the ball bouncing around, the Magpies fullback hit a great volley over the head of Tim Howard and into the net in the top corner at the far post, an absolutely magnificent strike.
Everton would grab a goal just before the end of the first half, with Jack Rodwell scoring a header on a corner kick, but the Toffees couldn't find a second to steal a point. They probably deserved one, though, as former Everton player Dan Gosling committed an obvious handball in the box in the second half, but it went unseen by the referee. That was the biggest event of an otherwise rather dull second half, which will suit Newcastle just fine.
