The most amazing thing about the entire sequence was the terrible pass from Valdes. The Barca keeper is about a sure footed as they come so for him to make such a glaring mistake on his first touch of the match will leave many shaking their heads. A couple deflections didn’t help the situation either as Barcelona had a chance to potentially avoid the goal, but couldn’t get a clearance.
As for the finish, we've seen strikers blow chances like that before so no doubt Jose Mourinho will feel vindicated in his choice to start the Frenchman Benzema ahead of birthday boy Gonzalo Higuain.
