Real Madrid Vs. Barcelona, 2011 El Clasico: Ronaldo Wastes Pair Of Free Kicks

Real Madrid ended the first half with their heads down, but they're much improved so far since the restart. Once again, they're looking spry on the counterattack, and Cristiano Ronaldo manages to get Gerard Pique to stick out a foot near the edge of the Barcelona penalty box and promptly goes over it, earning a free kick and a yellow card for the centre back. The first attempt is hit straight into the wall, but the ball is instantly recovered by Pepe, who is then knocked over by Dani Alves.

So it’s take two for Ronaldo, who manages to beat the wall with his second attempt but ends up hitting the ball straight at Victor Valdes. You’d expect better from Madrid with a pair of dangerous free kicks and so much on the line - those were much better chances to make it 2-1 than they ended up looking. We’re still all square here.
