Arsenal are already in a bad way with their fullbacks, having lost Gael Clichy to Manchester City over the summer and then seen right back Bacary Sagna go down with a broken leg earlier this season. The last thing they needed was another injury to that position, but that's exactly what they got when Andre Santos, who managed to get himself hurt in a meaningless (for Arsenal) Champions League match against Olympiacos in midweek.
Andre Santos Ankle Injury Requires Surgery; Arsenal Defender Out 3 Months

The injury looked bad at the time, and the club has now confirmed that the worst has indeed happened and that Santos will be out for three months following ligament repair surgery in Brazil:
Arsenal Football Club can confirm that, following investigations and subsequent medical opinions by Club specialists, left-back Andre Santos will have surgery to repair ligament damage in his right ankle sustained in the game against Olympiacos last week.
Andre will have surgery in Brazil this week and is expected to be out for around three months. Everyone at the Club wishes him well.
Arsenal are going to be playing with four centre backs in defence for the forseeable future. Considering the complete lack of depth the club possesses at left back, the fact that Santos was risked for a game that had no impact on the club's season is baffling, and now they're paying the price. But hey, at least they have Robin van Persie, right? He's pretty aces.
