Highly coveted starlet Eduardo Vargas has signed for Serie A side Napoli, according to a report from Terra Chile. Carlos Heller, the majority shareholder of Vargas' club side Universidad de Chile, said that the two sides agreed to the transfer late last night and that the Chilean international will cost Napoli $14.5 million.

According to a report out of Chile, Universidad de Chile have agreed to a transfer of their star Eduardo Vargas to Napoli.
Vargas made his debut in professional football in 2006, but did not start to raise eyebrows around Europe until last season, the Apertura 2011 in the Chilean Primera division. In his first season as a regular first team player, Vargas netted 10 goals in 21 appearances in the league for La U. This season, he’s established himself as one of the biggest stars in South America. He has six goals in 11 appearances in the league, as well as 11 goals in the Copa Sudamericana. La U won that competition, and he was the competition’s leading scorer.
Vargas has also made nine appearances for Chile, scoring twice. He normally plays as a wide forward cutting inside, so he will have to make a slight adjustment in his position and style of play to get into Walter Mazzarri's side on a regular basis. He'll have the benefit of a relatively low-pressure environment to start his European career, deputizing behind Edinson Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Marek Hamsik, if this report is true.
