Real Madrid bounced back from defeat against Barcelona with a thumping 6-2 win over a rather bemused Sevilla side who on a different day could have come away with a point. Madrid, who failed to gel in the first half despite scoring a flurry of goals, were saved twice by a some remarkably good goalkeeping from Iker Casillas after going 1-0 up through Cristiano Ronaldo, but recovered to spring two goals from nothing late in the first half, with Jose Callejon steering an Angel di Maria delivery past Javi Varas before Ronaldo made it three with a remarkable long-range effort.

Pepe was then sent off for not hitting Alvaro Negredo in the face (which was a little confusing), but that didn't prevent Madrid from extending their lead in the second half when Angel di Maria slotted home from close range. Sevilla replied with a tasty finish by Jesus Navos, but soon found themselves down to ten men as well after a challenge by Manu that probably wasn't worthy of a red card. Anyway, Real continued to pour forwards, with Karim Benzema earning a penalty that Ronaldo converted for his hattrick before Hamit Altintop, who is totally not retired, made it 6-1 thanks to Xabi Alonso's low cross. Negredo got a last-minute goal, but 6-2 doesn't really feel that much better than 6-1. Madrid are back.
